TN: Two Dessert Wines...(short/boring)

We tried these two last night w/ the SFWG tasting:

  1. JosephCattin Tokay/PinotGris ACG: Hatschbourg VendangesTardive (MeBalP; 13.5%) 1989: Golden/burnished bronze color; beautiful complex ripe mango/Tokay/passito-like/grapey slight botrytis/apricotty rather spicy/nutmeg beautiful nose; fairly sweet (3%-5%?) some tart rich/lush ripe mango/spicy/grapey some complex flavor; very long/lingering ripe/mango/grapey fairly sweet bit spicy/nutmeg/peachy/botrytis complex finish; a beautiful Alsatian dessert wine that shows more passito character w/ only hints of botrytis; Shoulld go another 10-20 yrs.

  1. Cuilleron Condrieu Ayguets AC: Condrieu (13.5%; MeBaD; Tris de pourriture noble et de grains passerilles) Chavanay 2001: Dark gold/burnished bronze color w/ some browning; slight piney/herbal bit volatile/pickle juice slight nutty/oxidized very ripe/overripe strong botrytis/peach syrup/apricotty interesting/complex nose w/ no hints of Viog;very sweet (10%-12%?) rather TBA-level very intense botrytis/peachy/apricotty slight piney/herbal very lush/ripe slightly tart/nutty complex flavor; very long/lingering intense botrytis/peachy/apricotty slight nutty/oxidative finish; no Viog character and dominated by the botrytis/apricotty character; seems to be moving right along and may not go much further; reminds me more of a Calif TBA/Riesling than anything.

No BP this time. So sorry.
