Last night my wife and I met Anne Trimbach who is making a tour of the country promoting her family’s winery. I had corresponded with Anne online, but this was my first time getting to meet her in person. Thanks to Rob Alexander for alerting me that she would be in town. This was a formal five course dinner. The wines were popped and poured and served non-blind. It was held at Taste in Cleveland Heights who did a wonderful job especially considering the over flow crowd. It was a pleasure to meet Anne. Her english is excellent and she did a great job promoting her winery showing a lot of poise. If she is in town, you should check and see if there are any dinners or events planned.

2007 Trimbach Riesling - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (10/21/2009)
My first time trying this vintage. Silvery gold. The nose has some lovely grapefruits and already just a hint of petrol. That blew off and there was also some minerals. Bold fruit on the palate. Mostly yellow grapefruits. Long finsih. Nicely acidic, this went well with a cheese plate. This is very drinkable now, but I would give it a year or two and check back on it. I may have been in the minority but this was my WOTN. (90 pts.) -
2002 Trimbach Muscat Reserve - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (10/21/2009)
I was a bit worried about how this would hold up. I suspect the distributor was using Anne’s presence as a way to unload this. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. It does show some age with just a hint of oxidation. Yet, the Muscat character is really there. Pretty floral nose of orange blossom. Slightly oily texture. Flavors of tart mandarin oranges with a bit of orange peel. Dry. Complex. I am not sure I would hold these much longer, but this very good. Although I did not have the salmon, many commented on what an excellent foo match this was. A very pleasant surprise. (89 pts.) -
2006 Trimbach Gewurztraminer - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (10/21/2009)
Golden in color. Lovely nose of lychee’s and a slight petrol note as well. Bone dry. Oily texture. Nice orange rind flavors on the palate that flirt with a Gewurz biterness but don’t get overwhelmed. This was a very good match for an apple tart with creme anglaise. (89 pts.) -
2006 Trimbach Pinot Blanc - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (10/21/2009)
This was silvery gold in color. A pleasant nose with some tropical fruit. With air some peach cream soda emerges. Slightly tart with grapefruit and a hint of pineapples. Nice texture. Thsi was the first wine served and was a very good way to open the event. (87 pts.) -
2006 Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve - France, Alsace, Alsace AOC (10/21/2009)
Golden in color. The nose lacks some ruit but shows nice minerality. On the palate, however, there is plenty of ripe fruit. Although Anne said this was bone dry it has a sweet essence which I assume is from ripe fruit. Slightly bitter on the finish. This needs some food to balance it out. (86 pts.)
