TN: Trimbach 1997 Clos-Sainte-Hune Riesling

For me, Riesling tends to age more like a shotgun blast than a sniper’s bullet. Things are more scattered than direct. This bottle extends what I would consider Alsace Riesling’s golden aromas of 10-years plus of age. Think honeycomb, wildflowers, brighter tropical fruit, et al.

In the mouth, this is honey and tea playing. This still has plenty of tannic spine for a white. The finish is dusty and dry. But in the middle, there are honeyed flavors that go sweet and dry like a great almond cookie. There are thin but dense lines of flowers, fruit and stones.

Excellent wine, albeit not epic.

Sounds like an excellent wine! I wish I can drink more of this stuff.
