quietly but assuredly you are becoming a FL advocate!
Did you two open any last night when you were hanging out?
Serge - I hope that I have established that, despite my own position on NYCR, I am no cheerleader for FL wines. So let me say: This surprises me. I don’t mind a Pinot that whispers, but I find this a little thin. But it comes from an excellent vineyard.
Regarding FL Pinot, most should rip it out and plant Riesling. But for a Pinot that whispers with some real nuance, Ravines brings sage, dark cherry and more sage. The best, however, is the Heart & Hands '07. Winemaker Tom Higgins is not afraid of stems. Far from adding an asparagus note, his stems add spice and texture. Very nice stuff.
