2009 Luigi Giusti Lacrima di Morro d’Alba (1/19/2012)
Crazy aromatics: lavender, thyme, other mixed herbs. Scents are just pouring out of the glass tonight. Settles down after about 30 minutes. Not as much VA in this bottle. Palate with cleansing acidity and fresh blue fruits. Medium frame with low tannins, so not something to keep around for years. Works very well with food, this night we had lamb kebabs. Love having this around in the $10-15 category.
2009 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Le Domaine (1/12/2012)
Crunchy, savory goodness. surprisingly drinking well. fruit & structure well balanced. shines with beef kebabs tonight.
2006 Rivers-Marie Pinot Noir Occidental Ridge Vineyard (12/31/2011)
Delicious but quite full and rich. These CA PNs seem so extracted to me lately and I don’t mean that negatively, but rather as an observation. They certainly hit the spot for me on occasion, but I need to be prepared. Very good wine when compared to it’s peers.
2003 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) Châteauneuf-du-Pape (12/29/2011)
Starts out ok, but gets pruney and roasted. Tried another taste about 1 hr after opened with garrigue and raspberry notes yet that roasted fruit (hello 1998 CdPs) still present. Drinkable but there’s other stuff tonight.
1996 Henriot Champagne Brut Millésimé(12/28/2011)
Straw, lemon peel, zippy then settles into some rounder butterscotch and bread dough. No sherry or ozy notes-happy about that-color marginally advanced by nights end. Good place to be. My last bottle in 2012-2014.
2005 Domaine Daniel Dampt et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet (12/28/2011)
Drinking very well. Chablis flavors and aromas, with a very polished mouth feel. Depth with freshness. Lovely lingering length.QPR’o’Rama
2001 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée(12/28/2011)
Second bottle this month, even better than a few weeks ago. Starting to enter that wonderful time when baby fat gives way to chiseled, pure complex flavors with a long life ahead. My brother mentions, “smelly French feet”. Pegau still makes me weak.
2005 Domaine Rolet Arbois Vieilles Vignes (12/21/2011)
Tight and tart, needs air. 2 hrs later, lovely floral, tar, wet earthy, bright fruit. A pretty wine. Get more.
2007 Domaine Matrot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières (12/16/2011)
Good bottle. Kills me, cause when they’re good, they’re fucking good with so much potential. One bottle left no gambling here, drink in early 2012.
2009 Luneau-Papin Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Le L D’Or (12/3/2011)
Aromas and flavors are there. Lacks a little cut and energy. Very good tonight. Have plenty to check on.
2006 Domaine Jean Tardy et Fils Vosne-Romanée Les Vigneaux (12/3/2011)
A solid wine with balance and purity. Open and drinking well, like many '06s in this range. @ $25 this was a nice deal.
