Tried this wine Fri night:
- Statti mantonico IGT: Calabria (MantonicoBianco grape; 13%; www.Statti.It) CantineStatti/Lamezia Terme 2013: Med.dark gold color; fairly fragrant ripe/spicy/grapey/dried pineapple some earthy quite attractive/interesting nose; bit soft/lush/ripe strong grapey/mango/dried pineapple some earthy/coarse flavoe; very long ripe/dried pineapple/dried mango some earthy bit soft/fat/lush finish; lots of ripeness & grapey dried mango character and a bit coarse but rather interesting for a Calabrian white. $24.00 (KK)

MantonicoBianco is not to be confused with MontonicoBianco. They are two different grapes. This was the first MantonicoBianco that I’ve tried. Clearly a grape they should be planting all up&down the coast of Calif!!
