TN (sort of): Louis/Dressner portfolio at Terroir

Last night, Joe’s dog-and-pony show was in SF.

I didn’t take notes and there was no tasting sheet so what I liked comes from my feeble memory. I’m sure I’m missing a few.

Nero d’Avola, Occhipinti
Rosso and Chianti Classico, Montesecondo
Moscato d’Asti, Bera
Chinato and an awesome apperativo from Vergano. He took the latter, mixed with a bit of sparkling water and a twist of orange over ice. I would’ve drunk a bottle’s worth of that recipe if it had been around a couple of days before when it was in the 90s.

07 Vouvray and sparkling Vouvray, Pinon
All the wines (one sparkler, one white, two reds) from Peillot
07, 05 and 02 Muscadet, Luneau-Papin. The 05 was white wine of the night for me.
06 Morgon (both Cote du Py and Javernieres), Desvignes - amazing Beaujolais
Brezeme Blanc (100% Roussanne), St-Gervais (100% Grenache), 06 Chateauneuf from Texier
Coteaux-du-Loir “L’Effraie” and Jasnieres “Les Rosiers” from Belliviere
Beaujolais Blanc, Brun (I thought the '08 L’Ancien Beaujolais was good, but not great. Will probably want to revisit as it had just been bottled.)

Tons o’ fun [emot-v.gif]

Yeppers.
Got one ready to drink.
Best, Jim

Larry or Jim, have either of you tasted both Belliviere’s Rosiers and Caligramme and, if so, can you delineate typical similarities and differences? TIA.

I’ve only had one bottle of Caligramme ('02). It’s all old-vines. It had incredible structure and depth, more so than any vintage of Rosiers I’ve tried. I felt like I had committed infanticide.

I don’t think one can go wrong with any of Belliviere’s whites.

I was guilty of the same crime with one of my '02s, Larry, opening it shortly after receiving it in '05. The other was opened last year, and was just starting to strut its stuff. It could continue to evolve for eons. Good stuff, and while the tariff continues to rise, worth it.

I went to the LA tasting. Will post some notes soon. Off the top of my head, I loved the wines from Bera. Gorgeous. And Occhipinti. Also impressed by Texier and Brun.

Hard to describe many of them because there were so many AMAZING wines. There’s a mystery to them, a wildness unfound in many wines these days.

SO glad these wines will be more available in LA. Been a long time waiting on this.

Overall it was a standout tasting. [good.gif]

Belliviere’s Elixir de Tuf is an interesting wine as well.
