A wee BloodyPulpit:
- At first, I was not very taken by this wine. It seemed on the lean/tight/underripe side. But, given the proclivities of the deLaski’s towards Austrian reds, I started to rethink this wine. It is not a Jaffurs or Ojai Syrah w/ big/lush fruit and ripeness. If you think of an Austrian Blaufrankisch or SanktLaurent, this wine is very much along that style, but w/o the loamy character those two often show. With Susan’s chicken dish, it filled the bill.
This is the wine of David & Anna deLaski, grown on their vnyd just to the South of LosOlivos, right on the outskirts. The wine is made by SteveClifton over in Lompoc.
