Sine Qua Non In Flagrante 2000:
Simply a massive, concocted nose of sweet berry fruit, mint, roasted plums and smoked meats. While bordering on unnatural (in terms of mouth-feel and texture), the wine does offer a great deal of pleasure. The experience, albeit amped up, is provoking, even stimulating. One almost feels the sensation of olfactory overload while consuming this “Syrah,” but all this is 100% voluntary, right!? This is alleged to not be one of the SQN cognoscenti’s preferred wines, but I thought it certainly representative of the house style. It is, alas, not my house style, though I am more than happy to drink a bottle when one appears. 90 points
