TN: Saturday Night With A Nice Paella

2003 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir Laurène - Nice cross of elegant structure with lots of underbrush, rose petals and minerals on the nose and strong rich fruit on the palate- lots of black cherry, strawberry balanced with crisp acidity. Went fantastically well with home made paella.

2004 Mas Martinet Viticultors Priorat Clos Martinet - Coffee, limestone and rich plush blackberry fruit on the nose. Lush black fruit on the attack, some singificant but not overwhelming tannins on the mid palate and finish. Nicely constructed so that nothing is over the top but big enough that it is more of a sipping wine than a food wine. Certainly a long life ahead of it, I’m not sure whether it will pick up any secondary character over time or not.

Thanks for the note. It’s nice to see an '03 from Oregon doing well. We’ve disliked pretty much every one we’ve opened. Then again, I think we skipped from '02 to '04 with DDO.
