TN: Sandlands 2012 Trousseau

First wine at home as an expanded family with our new addition, Madeleine.

This is a bit of an acid test: I love this so I am firmly in the AFWE-appreciating camp I guess. Energetic, bright tones of alpine strawberry and sweet cherry with a bit of spice box and briar are primary with some light earthy tones underneath. Light in color, a translucent dark cherry. Moderate acidity and more weight on the palate and firmness of tannins on the finish than would be expected from the color and nose. Would be interesting to see this with time. Almost hard to believe this comes from California. Very enjoyable.

Noah, we had this a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. We’re drinking the Arnot-Roberts Legan PN right now (speaking of AFWE)

I’m not an acid fan, but loved that wine. Saving the next for a good occasion for sure.

Id love to try one of these!

Yup only 1 left I thought it was fantastic!

Opened this Sunday night and drank over three nights. Although I have not had this side-by-side, I enjoyed this a bit more than the A-R Trousseau. Really exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

If for some reason you decide to come down to LA I’d be happy to open one.

Hell, Sonoma County is even closer. Same offer applies. [cheers.gif]

We opened one last night and it was initially quite pungent with fruit but as the wine got more air it became deeper and more earth-driven. Enjoyed over 2 hours with BBQ turkey, not decanted. Really well done Tegan,
