A wee BloodyPulpit:
- This was a dessert wine I bought back in the early '80’s and was in a case of fortified wines found in the stash discovered stored in my garage under uncontrolled conditions, standing upright. It seemed none the worse for wear from that treatment.
SanPasqual is a wnry located just NE of SanDiego. The still appear to be in business, makes table wines from as far away as LakeCnty & SantaBarbara.
In its youth, this wine was a very dark brown, almost PX in darkness. It has lost a lot of color over the yrs. This was an absolutely delicious/complex wine that went great w/ the toffee English Pudding I had. It reminded me a lot of an old Malmsey/Malvasia Madeira, but w/o the sharp/piercing/aldehydic character those wines often show.
