TN: Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs 2004

This champagne has a clear pale yellow color with small fine mousse. Its aromas include yellow flowers, fresh mown hay, and light accents of toast and marzipan.

The wine expresses itself in the mouth in a wonderful way, with the bubbles being seamlessly integrated into the flavors and weight of the wine, which starts out light, gets a bit deeper on the mid-palate, then a bit deeper yet on the finish, and deeper still as the finish continues - really a wonderful development rarely found whereby the deepest part comes close to the end of the finish. It should be noted that the flavors are a nice gentle array of lightly sweet lemon, a bit of toast, a bit of chalk, just a bit of yeast on the finish. The overall lasting impression is a pleasant chalking minerality which lingers for quite some time.

Really quite easy to drink and much more harmonious than the 1996 Henriot Cuvee des Enchanteleurs I tried last night.

Still youthful but very delicious.

96 points.

Thanks for the note Karl.
