TN: RM, Westerhold and Seghesio

Pop-n-pour and drank over 2+ hours along with other wines. Dark raspberry color with a touch of cloudiness. Big fruit and texture for such an aged wine. Black cherry, strawberry jam, tobacco and mushroom notes. Still has balanced acidity and some soft tannins on a pretty long finish. Nice bottle of Pinot.

Another pop-n-pour but this one needed some time to settle down. The fruit was so huge and stewed that it was almost gloppy at times. I’ve had this wine in the past and it hasn’t been this over extracted or over-the-top texture wise. We had it with braised short ribs and it almost overpowered the entree. Really? The tannins melted away and this was just a big fruity mess. I’ve liked it much more in the past. We’ll have to see where the next bottle ends up.

This was a great bottle of wine. Nice red fruit nose. Red and black raspberry on the palate with substantial acid and a nice tannic grip on the finish. Yum!
