Quick hits on some recent wines that I did not have time to fully write up…
2016 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah T ‘n’ S Blocks Hudson Vineyard South
This one really deserved a full write up, as it was delicious. Still showing fruit but also picking up a deep meatiness. I’m thrilled to have a couple more bottles, and in no rush.
2016 Rhys Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard
Another bottle that deserved more attention, as it was delicious. Slightly developed, and totally in the zone.
2017 Rhys Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard
After the amazing 2016, this was a bit of a letdown. Just as sharp and unyielding as it was three years ago. No flaws but no pleasure.
2020 Château de Pibarnon Bandol Rosé
Surprised to still have a bottle of this, but it was drinking very well. Deeper than typical Rosé, but with plenty of refreshment.
2021 Château de Pibarnon Bandol Rosé
Opened because we plowed through the 2020, this was OK, but not stellar after. Seemed heavier/sweeter. Maybe not the greatest bottle of this, as others have shown much better.
2022 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese
Odd time to open this? Seemed like it was held down by excessive weight, which is never an issue with Richter wines IME.
