Yesterday, we had a few friends over to drink some wine.
2007 Prinz Hallgartener Jungfer Riesling Spatlese Rheingau
Purchased on a recent visit to DeeVine Wines. Pale slivery gold in color, clear and bright. The nose is nice with a clean lemon/minerals scent. On the palate, this is very easy to drink. Not as sweet as many Spatlese’s are these days, which was nice. Refreshing and at 8.5%, an easy way to start the day. 50+3+12+17+7=89
2000 Hirsch Heliigenstein Zobinger Riesling
Corked.
2001 JJ Prum Riesling Kabinett Wehlener Sonnenuhr
Light gold in color. The nose has minerals, not a lot of fruit. On the palate, this is very easy to drink. 8.5% and just a hint of sweetness. No spritz. I thought this was drinking very well without a lot of signs of age. 50+3+12+17+7=89
2006 Pax Syrah Cuvee Keltie North Coast
Inky purple in color, opaque and bright. The nose is huge with black raspberries, plums, grilled meats and pepper. Full bodied. A fair amount of alcohol showing on the nose and palate, but it smoothes out with air. Lots of lush purple fruits on the palate. Nice finish. Too young but fun right now with some air. 50+4+13+18+7=92
