Pascal Marchand was making the wines at Vougeraie during this period. I have some of this Pommard and a few of the Bonne Mares.
To my palate Pascal’s wines are usually powerful and need serious time. This Pommard is rather civilized. It is still way too young, but it shows a lot of potential. Young with a lot of tart berry fruit, and some earthy underbrush, there are still some astringent tannins. With a rack of Lamb everything mellowed out and the tannins subsided. It was a very nice glass of wine!
Clearly the most backward of the 3 wines from 2002 we opened in the last few nights, I would say this is a very promising vintage.
A votre santé.
