  • 2005 Pierre Péters Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Speciale Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons - France, Champagne, Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Champagne Grand Cru
The nose is deep, pure and beautifully expressive already, offering up a complex mélange of apple, toast and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with some secondary development to the flavors, snappy acids, pinpoint bubbles and superb focus on the very long and complex finish. A sensational wine with a Krug-like profile! (93 pts.)

  • 2011 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
The pure nose jumps from the glass with citrus and chalky soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, with great focus, purity and brisk acids on the long youthful finish. This will drink beautifully from the outset, but I would be inclined to give it just a couple of years in the cellar. (92 pts.)

  • 2011 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
The 2011 Genevrières from PYCM is an absolutely monumental example of the vintage, offering up a brilliant nose of apples, a touch of hazelnuts and a beautifully complex base of minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure, a wine to drink sooner, with superb length on the complex finish. This is the most impressive young Genevrières I have tasted. (94 pts.)

Nice group of wines. Thanks for the notes.

Hi Barry -

You drink some seriously great wines on a regular basis. Do you need a roommate? haha

Have you tried the 2002 or 2004 Pierre Peters Chetillons? Any comparison to those? I am reluctant to buy the 2005 because I’ve heard the vintage is not quite as strong as those. Also, the few 2005s I’ve had have been good but not great.

The 2002 Peters Chetillons is a rare bird. It’s extraordinary. The 2004 and 2005 are both excellent. If you are going to only buy the tippy top vintages then you will miss a lot of wonderful wine from Peters!

+1 on the 2002 and 2004 Les Chetillons

Had the Pierre Peters two nights ago and your note is spot on, really enjoyable wine.

I’d agree that it’s not quite as strong, a touch lighter, a little fruitier, but still delightful. No disappointment involved for me, it’s nice to see the vintage comparisons.

The 2006 is out now. Its better than the 05, but behind the 02 and 04 qualitatively IMO

Hi Barry, just bought some 2011 Pycm Genevrieres, did you decant or pop n pour?

Thanks

Hi Blair - champagne.gif

I’ve never had Pierre Peters Chetillons before this … I was shocked at how good it was.

Hi Michael - opened PYCM Les Genevrières 1-2 hours in advance!
