Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 1999:
There is a revealing nose of dark cherries and violets that is shy at first and then increasingly more provocative with each successive half hour. Dark chocolate shavings, tobacco, spices, licorice, minerals, blackberries, and a touch of lavender attempt to overwhelm the olfactory senses. The sweet, dense fruit is persistent and delicious. And the wine, while fantastic and expressive now, should continue to excel for a years and years to come. 93+ points
I have always enjoyed the wines of Sassetti. I did a 10 year vertical there in 1997 that was great. The 97 is just coming into its own. Well made wines from a beautiful vineyard.
