Pavie 1998:
Had this this the other night while watching some football with my wife. Dark, opaque purple color, nearly black, and with a nose bursting with energy. There were, of course, the tell-tale signs of Pavie on the nose, surplus ripe fruits, graphite and smoke, but the wine is more than anything a product of the vintage- hedonistic and wild. Loaded with spice, blueberry compote, smashed rocks, cassis and other, very “obvious” flavors. For every bit of saturation there is some other layer complexity to balance it out. It is really very tasty. Should continue to improve but it is wildly delicious right now. 93+ points
