TN: Patton Valley Pinot/Lorca PS

Some short notes from the last two nights.

Lorca is going to be closing up shop so we thought we would try one of their 1997 Petites.

1997 Lorca Napa Valley Petite Sirah
Still had good color. Medium body, with cherries & blackberry on the nose. Impressive fruit for a wine I thought might be a bit tired. Plum, blackberries, currants, a bit of earth, and a little spice. Not a long finish but enjoyable.

2006 Patton Valley Vineyards Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (Stelvin)
Very easy drinking Pinot right out of the bottle, it did get better as we consumed it. Dark purple with medium+ body. On the nose raspberries and dark cherries. The palate was fairly rich with raspberries, cherries, spice & dark fruits. A nice and well balanced Pinot at a reasonable price.

Thanks Carrie, the Patton Valley Pinot in… 04 I think? was one of the first “good” pinots I ever had. I also like the price!

Thanks for the notes. Never heard of Lorca but saw they were blowing out that Garys’ and Pisoni for sub $20.

Patton Valley is a great site and very well farmed as they share a vineyard crew with Beaux Freres. I’m partial to the 04 as that was last vintage as winemaker (00-04). It’s always nice to see them get some press. They have earned it, good people.
