TN: N.V. Emilio Lustau Jerez-Xérès-Sherry East India Solera

  • N.V. Emilio Lustau Jerez-Xérès-Sherry East India Solera - Spain, Andalucía, Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (1/2/2011)
Aromas of coffee and toffee along with hints of fig. Roasted nuts on a somewhat viscous palate from sugary sweetness with a touch of citrus at the finish. This drank like a rather sweet tawny Port for me with hints of oxidation around the edges. There is heat on the nose and palate which is off putting and the sweetness wasn’t balanced out by any other interest in the wine. Very consistent over two weeks in the fridge.

I had this myself recently. I agree with the roasted hazelnuts, definite caromel and toffee also. I understyand that this is a blend of Pedro Ximenez and (Palamino) Oloroso. Excelent sherry. definitely worth a try but only if you have a sweet tooth. Excelent after dinner Bev.
