TN: N.V. Château L'Aulee, Cremant de Loire, "Brut Zero"

Disclaimer we sell this at our store.

100% Chenin Blanc. Light-yellow in the glass. Instantly on the nose, unripe pear… after this blows off, then a whiff of hay(?) and something waxy or petroly. Afterwards on the palate, seriously, feels like I ate a tube of unflavored Chapstick… like there is a layer of wax on the roof of my mouth. The bubbles (fine) on this are weird. They just kind of appear on the top from midway. I strangely like it. It’s an interesting wine, especially for under $14. For the same $, I would choose this over a Prosecco, just because of it’s odd little personality.

There was a wine I had recently in NYC that I fell in love with, (NV Ganevat Cremant De Jura Oh!!, which I just purchased from CrushWineCo, $20) that I liked a lot better (TONS of ripe pear, and very floral). This experience tells me to keep seeking out Sparkling wines from these areas.
