TN: N.V. Acme Pinot Noir

The second label of John Thomas. This release is a blend of '06 and '07 fruit from his Dundee Hills vineyard.

This has a light gorgeous translucent magenta color. The nose is not overy fruity, but shows a nice mixture of strawberry, red raspberry and currant interlaced with a hint of earth. Moderate acidity on the palate that gives way to an accent of baking spices and a somewhat deceptive finish. Initially, it seems to fade rather quickly, but the soft tannins actually linger for a respectable time.

89 points for me. At $16, it is a fantastic QPR.

I was lucky enough to score a six-pack of these. Good acidity, light on its feet and fantastic with food. I wouldn’t consider this a stand alone, cocktail type wine, but very much looking forward to the last few, which I am trying to hold for a little longer.

I scored two cases of this last summer, only minus two so far. Best deal of the year!

Opened another bottle this evenging. If there is a better $16 Pinot out there, I have not found it.
