TN: Mugnier Musigny 2001

A change of plans from 1996 DRC Richebourg. This is pretty special. A spectacular nose, still youthful on the palate, nice structure and acidity, and a fine finish. Very nice with a Flannery dry aged ribeye.
I traded some 2000 Harlan, I believe for this, and have two more bottles. A definite wow wine!

Thanks for posting a note. Bought 4 bottles of this in 2007 for what now seems like next to nothing.

Still got two bottles left so appreciate an update on how it is showing. Last bottle about 7 years ago was spectacular.

cheers Brodie

Thanks for the note. Attended a dinner a good decade ago where a vertical of Mugnier Moose was served and this was the best on the night IIRC.

Don’t know how evolved your bottle was but this is still pretty spectacular and I feel this has many years of life ahead. This is why one buys and cellars Burgundy. Doesn’t always work out but when it does :grinning::crazy_face::smile::+1:

Seems like this is pretty timeless. Ten years ago, seven years ago, now, very nice.

Great wine. Was clearly WOTF in our Musigny lineup last year against the 00/01 Vogüé and 00 Mugnier.

An excellent plan change that worked out excellently :)! Thanks for the note. Good 2001s are in a great place.

When I grow up I want to have aged Mugnier Musigny as backup btls to swap in on a whim.!! :kissing_heart::kissing_heart:

Awesome note. Thank u for sharing!

Thanks for posting.
Brought back memories of the amazing 1990 of which I sold several cases to clients who still rave.
Freddy = very special wines.

Smart trade. I bought bottles of the '01 Mugnier CM village wine on release for a song ($29 I think). Wish I still had one, but hey were so good I couldn’t resist.

What is the exit price of musigny from the domaine nowadays ?
