A wee BloodyPulpit:
Mazzocco is a wnry that pretty much flies under everybody’s radar. It was one time owned by Tom & ?? Mazzocco. This winemaker was ?? Zagunis or some such name from DryCreekVnyds. It is now owned by Ken&Diane Wilson, who also own WilsonVnyds there on WestDryCreekRd. They make a whole bunch of vnyd-designate Zins. I’ve not tried anything from Mazzocco in yrs, so don’t know how they are.
This wine, nothing profound, went perfectly well w/ my roasted Gypsy/Bull’sHorn/Lipstick peppers w/ a ton of fresh basil & blue cheese dressing. The PeachyCanyon Dusi Zin '88 was pretty much DOA.

Hi Tom,
Tom Mazzacco’s wife’s name is/was Yvonne. The winemaker you are referring to is Phylis Zouzounis. She has been around the valley as long as my dad and still has her own brand called
Deux Amis. My dad was actually the winemaker at Mazzocco for just a year in 1987. I’m pretty sure there was an interim winemaker between my dad and Phylis but I can’t say for sure.

Very cool - great notes Tom, and thanks for chiming in Jake - Those early Mazzocco wines were really terrific, I remember some killer Chardonnays in the late 1980s aside from the Zins. And I remember when your dad Chris went there for one vintage Jake, I bought every wine from that vintage I could get after they were released.
Phylis Zouzounis was a gas, a buddy of mine represented their wines back in the 90s, and whenever she would come to town to push her Deux Amis wines, we would go on these crazy all night drunken bowling extravaganzas - she was so much fun -
