TN: Mas Carlot Costieres de Nimes les Enfants Terribles 2006

Mas Carlot Costieres de Nimes les Enfants Terribles 2006:
How are wineries in France (and elsewhere in Europe) able to put out such good juice at such good prices? And this is really good! Save a few wines from Spain, I would say the marketplace for blends like this (Mourvedre and Syrah) belongs to regions like the Languedoc and Roussillon (and the Rhone). This wine is simply fantastic . . . and not just for the price. The exotic nose of berry preserves and spices is just the beginning. Later flavors of cassis, grilled meats, cracked pepper and roasted plums all leap from the glass. There is some toastines, some tart acidity and excellent length. But mostly what you come back to is that, while concentrated and endowed (yes!), this wine is pure and exact. Yeah, and all for $12. 91 points

I wish I bought more of this when I tasted it as well. Outstanding QPR!

I should have bought more. Instead I bought the Mas de Guiot Cabernet/Syrah in higher quantities. It is also good, but not as good. I think Kacher has more though.

Yes, I was stupid and I bought Cuvee Alex on closeout, the Terribles is better wine and sold out in NY, so they claim.

We visited the winery in late Sept and tasted with Natalie who is the wine maker-her husband makes the Bressade wines which is just down the road. We have enjoyed her reds and rose in the past and the current lineup is very strong. I liked the 07 Enfant enough to hand carry it back-so those of you who missed the 06 Enfant may want to look out for the 07. As far as I know Kracher doesn’t bring in the Paul Blanc range-which is sorta her reserve lineup named after her father-they are 2 euro more but IMHO are worth it and should age very well.

Thanks, Mark

I heard the 2007 was the vintage of the milennium
