A leisurely business lunch at Le Pichet, a nice Cafe in Seattle where one may as well be in Paris. We started with the Matrot off the list and then moved to a couple of bottles I had brought. (A group of 4 polished these off with little effort, although somewhat unaccustomed to midday vino I am aching for a nap right now.)

2007 Thierry et Pascale Matrot Chardonnay Bourgogne Blanc - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc (9/21/2009)
Clean, lemon, seashell. Not an exciting white Burgundy, just serviceable, varietally correct, and clean. Works for me in the right setting.

1990 Nikolaihof Riesling Vinothek - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau (9/21/2009)
Mmm, this was a good bottle of this wacky wine that saw 14 years in large cask. Nice varnish and nuts on the nose. A hint of RS on entry and then long, resolved, and supple on the palate with incredible minerality and precision. Terrific wine!

1990 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (9/21/2009)
While I tend to prefer the 1990 Cuvee Reserve over the Laurence, this is still always a treat. Supple, not quite Burgundian, suave on the palate. Nicely leathery, dark, beautiful finish.
