TN: Longboard does Dallas

LONGBOARD DOES DALLAS - Campania in Dallas, TX (4/28/2010)

Lognboarder was in town for a quick in and out business trip to the Big D so a few of us gathered for a casual dinner at Campania. Wine theme was “2006 Tuscans”.

Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of creme, vanilla, nutmeg and yellow pears. Flavors of yellow pears, yellow apples and lemon zest. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full body. Drink or hold. (94 pts.)

Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of berries, cherries and minerals. Flavors of berries and Bing cherries. Bright acidity, somewhat firm tannins, medium body. Drink or hold. No rush. (91 pts.)

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of florals, berries and talc. Flavors of berries and cherries. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Pretty seamless on the palate. One of the better Lucente I’ve had. Drink over the short term. (91 pts.)

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of berries, cherries, dust and a hint of florals. Rich flavors of berries and cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Drink or hold into the medium term. (93 pts.)

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of smoke, berries and cherries. Flavors of berries, cherries and minerals. Medium acidity, tannins and body. I’d hold into the medium term before trying again therefore no rating on this particular bottle. Could have shown better with more age.
