La Croix St. Georges 2001:
Rounding into its own right now this wine is simply fantastic. A well-endowed beauty, heavily charged with blackberries and camphor, leather and black plums. Plush and velvety, smooth and rich, with layers of glycerin, integrated tannins and lip-smacking goodness. The balance of fruit and oak is there- desired integration nearing completion! This wine seems to be all about the yum factor. But when you pause to investigate it further, if you can, if you haven’t downed everything in front of you, you find an enormously complex, refined, intellectually stimulating drink in front of you that you just cannot resist. Needless to say- I like it. I like it a lot. It is no '05, but it is delicious. I am glad I own eight more. 94 points
