  • 2006 Terry Hoage Vineyards Syrah The Hedge - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (1/7/2012)
Just starting to show some maturity. These are raw, savage wines that exude fruit and warm climate (west side Paso) syrah. Lot of delicious enjoyment. I picked up a bunch from Posner when they were on sale and they are just starting to evolve. Love these wines. (92 pts.)
  • 2010 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Old Vine - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (1/7/2012)
The biggest problem i have with these is that they keep disappearing. Despite being in my don’t touch for two years shelf, I lack the restraint. Just delicious now. Raspberries, dark cherries, earthiness and bramble. Young and powerful but with enough youthful complexity to be interesting too. Not sure how these will age, but I am pretty sure I won’t know. • 2008 Dehlinger Syrah Estate - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (1/7/2012)
Yeah, I know its too young, but I thought I would try a bottle. Day 1 was a waste. Nice enough, showing cooler climate Syrah profile, but just, uh, lacking. Day 2 it really came around. Earthy nose, black cherries, black raspberries and a strong backbone of acidity. Probably better with food in about 3 to 5 years. (91 pts.)
  • 2010 Château Pesquié Côtes du Ventoux Terrasses - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Ventoux (1/7/2012)
So this is good, but I wondered about some high scores it received. Actually, I tend to buy this in every vintage and this is as good as any. Needs some time, but some nice raspberries, cherries and sandalwood on the nose. Lots of acidity (more than expected) on the palate. Nice fruit. certainly will last for a few more years. For $13 nothing to complain about at all. To quote Joe Walsh, I can’t complain but some times I still do. (88 pts.)
