TN: HAYFORK, SINEANN, CARLISLE, GOULD CAMPBELL - My home (4/21/2014)
Last night was the first warm spring evening we sat outside with the neighbors and drank some wine with dinner. Finally!

2013 Hayfork Grenache Blanc Kenefick Ranch - USA, California, Napa Valley, Calistoga
After a day of sitting outside at a baseball game, we came back and enjoyed this on the patio with neighbors. It was very refreshing. The nose had some apples and pears. It had a round creamy texture but enough acidity to carry it thru. Matched quite well with an asparagus frittata. More of a sour apple on the palate which I liked a lot. Nice finish. I will drink a couple more of these this summer.
Grenache blanc is a varietal that seems to be much more expressive in the Cal versions I have tried than in the French versions. (91 pts.)

2013 Sineann Pinot Gris - USA, Oregon
Very nice. Golden in color with a bit of copper. The nose has lemons, minerals and a bit of bitters. Crisp. Lots of bright acidity and peaches on the palate. Long finish. (91 pts.) -
2011 Carlisle Zinfandel Papera Ranch - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
I just love this wine. I think it doesn’t get the “points” it deserves because its is a Zin. Great nose of raspberries, brambles and leather. Juicy, lush texture. Silky as it glides down the palate. Lots of fruit but lots of depth. Smooth. Long finish. Still, the best Zin I can ever remember having. (94 pts.) -
2000 Warre Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Sadly corked. Bought long ago from Premier Cru who doesn’t honor corked bottles after a period of time. From a 375. Seemed like a nice wine underneath. NR (flawed) -
2000 Gould Campbell Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto
Pop and poured, this needs some decanting at this point. A bit tight, it opened with air. Nice raspberries and milk chocolate on the nose. Sweet raspberries on the palate. Smooth with no heat. Nice if not amazing. (90 pts.)
