TN: Great CdR Seguret from Mourchon!

TN: `06 Domaine Mourchon Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret.

Huge investment by an American family and a wonderful website. This wine is unoaked, at 14.5% alc. Very good natural cork, decanted, slight trace of sediment. $23 Cdn. Cellared for one year but wine still on the shelf downtown. The Grand Reserve is there too, a very big wine I am to understand.

The Seguret.

Color. Dark purple garnet, quite deep in center.

Nose. Pretty closed at first but then opened with floral, dried herbs tones. Dark fruits, with raspberry, blackberry on day 2. Big nose indeed.

Palate. Initial entry thoughts were opening way too early. Big mouthfeel here, supple tannins, excellent structure, glycerin.
'This wine has some complexity/structure that is not all fruit connected" thought my pal from across the room. Chocolate, customary kirsch and sour cherries. Finish is a tad unknit, needs more time for sure. Great wine.

*****I took a sample into DeVines downtown where I met by chance the Beaucastel rep. I tried the Gigondas and Vacqueyras from Perrin. My wine blew both away but did not tell him that!
