TN: Giants v Chiefs -- Brewer-Clifton and Saxum

  • 2006 Brewer-Clifton Pinot Noir Zotovich - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Rita Hills - Sta. Rita Hills (10/4/2009)
    Popped and poured, consumed during the Giants win over the Chiefs. Wonderful nose, fresh, floral. Bright fruit, sour cherry and cranberries. Underbrush, sage, earthy. Notably absent were the astringent stem tannins that seem to permeate most Brewer-Clifton pinots and render them undrinkable when young. This was remarkably well balanced and delicious. Only after being open for a couple of hours and warming up did the alcohol become noticable. A nice treat and a very pleasant surprise.

    Popped and poured, enjoyed during the Giants win. A hint of spritz quickly dissapated. Gamy, earthy, rich, powerful, balanced, delicious.

another 04 saxum with spritz, not sure what happened with these

I opened one a few days ago, and no problems. It was a wonderful bottle. I had one bottle that was maybe corked, but never have I encountered any spritz.

It was more like that tingling sensation that sometimes arises. There were no bubbles. It only lasted through about 1/2 a glass then was gone.

This was my first experience with this in all the 04’s that I’ve had. The wine was wonderful after the sensation ceased.
