Will Stuart Pigott start writing in English again?
John,
Not Mike here. But I’ll answer anyway. “The pass” is a counter with 4 stools that overlook the open kitchen at Hearth. An excellent place to dine while watching the kitchen action, if you’re into that kind of thing. Can’t reserve the seats as they are on first come first serve basis.
Also agree with checking out Terroir, also owned-operated by same team at Hearth. Riesling, lot’s of them, plus good small bites.
Thanks Ramon.
Several of those wines are in the cellar. Might be time to dig out a 2001 Hermannshohle Spatlese. It’s been a couple of years since the last one. Same for the 2001 Loosen Pralat Goldkap.
Thanks for the notes.

No. Asked him the question in the Spring and he said No.
2001 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese: Brisk mineral tang like a sharp intake of mountain air, slate, loam, and what I apparently wrote down as “electric pear.” Sounds about right. Intensely saline and creamy, with low RS. (94)
Nice note. I had the 2001 Norheimer Kirschheck Spätlese at lunch today and it was singing. Bright acidity, apple/pear, gray slatey minerals in the finish. Just delicious.

Too bad, he is always an astute writer on Riesling. I’ve always enjoyed his works.
