TN: Eight 2016 Barbarescos tasted blind

Indeed.

I’ll be sure to cite tonic brands in the future.

If it’s Fever Tree I will buy cases of the wine!

I picked up another bottle of this and shared it with friends over dinner on Monday. Without TCA, it’s a nice, fairly concentrated wine, with good balance. I’m sorry I didn’t have any leftover to sample later. Based on the pop-and-pour treatment with dinner, I’d rate it a bit below in the top tier in the group we tasted. Still, at $30 at Whole Foods on Columbus, it’s a great value. Now I’m really looking forward to the Loreta cru bottling, which apparently isn’t available yet here.

the 16 cigliuti serraboella is on wine.com for around $43/btl if you use promo codes. Only in the midwest warehouse though.

I opened the Basarin last night. Delicious stuff.

Had the ‘16 La Ca Nova Montefico a couple of weeks back. After a few hours of air it was brilliant but still not showing all its cards. Great energy and pixelated black cherry fruit with underpinnings of licorice and mint. A truly great value in the vintage.
