TN: EdStJohn TheShadow Syrah '02...(short/boring)

Cracked this last night w/ my arugula/SerannoHam samwich:

  1. EdmundsStJohn TheShadow Calif Syrah (13.9%; http://www.EdmundsStJohn.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) Wayward Pilgrims of the Vine/AmericanCanyon 2002: Very dark color; lovely blackberry/Syrah/very spicy/bit licorice slight smokey/pungent/coffee/peppery somewhat complex rather classic EdStJ Syrah nose; fairly tart strong/blackberry/Syrah/licorice slight coffee/gamey quite spicy bit hard/tannic flavor; long some hard/tannic strong blackberry/Syrah/licorice/spicy bit rosemary/oregano/coffee/smokey rather structured some complex finish; nose is develping into a classic EdStJ Syrah nose but still a big wine on the palate and needs more age. $12

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. As I recall, this was a blend of all of Steve’s '02 Syrahs; ParmaleeHill/Wylie-Fenaughty/Bassetti. And sold for a song (speaking of a song…when’s Steve going to come out w/ another CD??). The ususal EdStJ lament…“I shoulda bought more”. Happens every time I go back & taste an older EdStJ wine. You’d think I’d learn after all these yrs.

Tom -

I had this a couple of weeks ago and thought it ready-to-go, compared to when I first tried it when it first came out in the East Coast. It has the stuffing to keep, but hit my sweet spot about now. I think this was $12 on release. Sick deal.

Sounds great, Tom.
$12. How cool is that?
I love me some ESJ.

I still have two of these and thought I’d pop one soon. I loved this on release, though a few friends (and usual ESJ fans) weren’t as impressed. People can’t be right all the time. [snort.gif]
