TN:Dom Saint Leocadie, Leukadios Minervois 2007

After finishing up a very nice 07 Mordoree CdR, which was great on the second day, I thought I’d keep it in the same vein;
The nose is classic Minervois with that high toned, steely, dusty blackberry(you know what I’m talkin about?) with a hint at red fruit as well.

Bright, fresh, yet plush flavors of blackberry, creme de cassis(it really is), raspberry reduction, and citrus fruit (almost like tangerine), with some dusty, dark chocolatey tannins. The citrus and red raspberry fruit keep pumping through the medium long finish. Nice structure and excellent balance. [give_heart.gif]
I just went to look at the invoice to see how much we paid for this, from Wine Library on a free shipping sale- $9.06 [blink.gif]. This is absolutely killer for south of $10. The awesome deals just keep rollin’ out of the SUD in 07.
Unfriggin believable!

Minervois and Roussillon as well as other areas of the Languedoc produce great wines every year at low price points. 07 should be as special for them as it seems to be for the Rhone I would think.

This is going to be a fun next year, watching deal after deal come out of the south. Can’t wait to try the 07 Bandols.

I had the 07 Minervois from Riusanelle last weekend and it was very good.

I keep looking for those 07’s from the South of France.
