TN: Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang '05

Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fume de Pouilly Pur Sang 2005:
Light gold in color with a slightly greenish rim. Reminds me of some of the great Gruners of F.X. Pichler on the nose- smoke, stone fruit, toasted nuts, citrus, ginger, etc. In the mouth is an eruption of flavors, some expected, some surprising. The expected: grapefruit, white peach, lemon peel, lime zest, exotic melons (think tropical). The unexpected (at least to me): macadamia nuts/magnolia perfume combo (weird!?!), Asian pear, salumi. Powerful acidity makes this wine finish strong and with purpose. This is a very good wine. And once again my wife pretty much hogged it all! 95 points

I was just offered some locally but had to pass unfortunately due to cost. How does it compare to the '05 Silex?

Not surprised to see a positive note, just can’t keep up with the price tag.

Few notches below and a very different mouthfeel IMHO. The Silex, to me, is his best, most singularly unique wine. And by wine I mean juice made from minerally rocks.
