This was held at a local Cleveland wine shop; pours were ~2oz save for the La Turque which was about an ounce, so my notes aren’t as detailed as usual, but it was quite an informative and insightful tasting; I particularly enjoyed tasting the various Syrahs side by side.

Fresh nose of ripe nectarine & a bit of rose water. The palate is much thicker, a bit oily, tasting of stone fruit and lanolin. (86 pts.) -

Seductive, complex nose of brick dust, black pepper, herbs, some blackberry/raspberry, and a bit of vanilla oak. Balanced, smooth palate featuring similar tastes as the nose, a bit of earth. (92 pts.) -

Extremely tarry, inky nose. A bit lighter on the palate with notes of dark berry and a bit of ink. Juicy and acidic with light tannins. (88 pts.) -

Aromas of blueberries, blackberries and earth. Initial attack of dark fruit & berries, but then the wine falls off with a very short mid-palate and no finish. (82 pts.) -

The nose and palate both feature raspberry, blackberry, herbs and vanilla. Fruity with light tannins. (88 pts.) -

Seductive, juicy nose of cherry and plum. Flavors of tea, red currant and hints of white pepper. Light to moderate tannins, but a very long finish. (93 pts.)
