2001 Fanti (Tenuta San Filippo) Brunello di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (7/29/2009)
Just a beautiful wine. Nose of currant, dark chocolate, crushed rocks, and dark berries. On the palate, very smooth and luscious with flavors of berries, cocoa, and wood. Well balanced with medium finish. (94 pts.) -
2005 Domaine de Beaurenard (Paul Coulon et Fils) Châteauneuf-du-Pape Boisrenard - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (7/29/2009)
A bit young but shows great promise. Captivating aroma of ripe plums, dark berries, smoke, and tobacco. A bit disjointed/angular (nothing time won’t fix) with notes of plums, pepper, dark berries, and oak. Medium finish. . (91 pts.)

Had the above wines at Zucca Ristorante (no corkage fee at that) before going to Chicago/Earth, Wind, & Fire concert at Nokia Theater last night. Chicago is still great but EWF really got the house rocking. Great show.
