2006 Nicolas Potel Bourgogne Cuvée Gérard Potel - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (6/10/2009)
Simple Bourgogne. Translucent red color. Nice bright nose of cranberry and cherry. Simple but pleasant palate. Some tannic structure suggesting that this may last for a few years, but I see no point in waiting. A fine basic red Burg, but at this price point, it is definite pass. Comparable wines can be had for half the price. (84 pts.) -
2007 Saisons des Vins (Copain) Le Printemps Rosé - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (6/10/2009)
Hard to recommend this. The food saved it, which is surprising considering Roses are generally considered as good apertif wines. Pale pink color. WAY too acidic. I enjoy acidic wines, but this was over the top. Strawberry nose with a touch of spice. The acidity gave way to an almost cloyingly sweet palate that eventually petered out. Paired with food that was able to cut through the acidity, this was a bit more approachable. (82 pts.)
