TN: Clos des Papes 1994

A lovely mid week CdP hitting the spot. Now almost all secondary… blood, earth & rust. Delish on the palate too with everything resolved but most importantly, all in the right place. Nice & spicy as well. A really lovely wine, but slightly past its mid-plateau with this bottle. Even 2 years on since my last note, this is still Burgundy with balls. 14%vol. 90pts

Nice note Phil. You believe it’s on the downslope? I’m always on the lookout for ageworthy '94s as my daughter was born that year.

Yes, it is tiring ever so slightly. The ‘best’ 1994 CdP I’ve ever had is the Vieux Telegraphe - although the Beaucastel is good too. But the VT is an absolutely cracking wine from that vintage and with extra stuffing. SAdly I have only two bottles left.

Thanks.
