TN: Cedarville Turnabout FairPlay '13...(short/boring)

This was shipped by mistake, so tried it last night:

  1. CedarvilleVnyd Turnabout’s FairPlay/ElDorado (EG; 14.3%; 45% Grenache/30% Syrah/25% CabSauv; www.CedarvilleVineyard.com) FairPlay 2014: Very dark color; some earthy/mushroomy/ElDorado rather plummy/blackberry/strawberry/Syrah quite fragrant/perfumed light toasty/oak lovely nose; lightly tart smooth/balanced/polished rather blackberry/strawberry/Grenache some earthy/ElDorado/mineral flavor w/ light graceful/smooth tannins; very long strong blackberry/strawberry/Grenache/spicy somewhat earthy/ElDorado finish w/ light smooth tannins; a very well-crafted balanced/smooth/graceful Rhone blend that should go out 4-8 yrs on the balance. $39.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. This is the high-end (for Cedarville) Rhone blend that Jonathan & Susan have been doing for 4-5 yrs now. It’s a very well-made blend that speaks mostly of ElDorado Grenache and nothing really sticks out in the blend. Like most Cedarville wines, very fairly priced. Made by two of my favorite people.

I appreciate your notes on this wine, Tom!

Every year, I receive one or two offers from Cedarville. As a low-income schmuck, I have to abstain from ordering from the winery, but it is very helpful to have a TN for reference. The wines from this area are apparently way overlooked, in general.

Thanks for posting the note, Tom. I’ve enjoyed this wine in past vintages and looking forward to trying this one - I’ll be visiting Jonathan & Susan at their winery on Sunday. They’ve generally described this wine as being inspired by Priorat.

Hmmm…not sure I get the Priorat connection on this, other than it’s a blend.
The Priorats I’m familiar w/ are generally pretty intense. This is a very smooth/polished/well-made.
