A relaxed dinner at the usual spot with some of the regulars. Food was great and wine all showed out.
- 2013 Salon Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut - France, Champagne (2/4/2026)
Pop and recork at 2pm. Opened at 6.30pm and it was shining. Such laser focus and precision with round white fruits and drive that goes on and on. Best showing yet of this patently young Champagne. (96 points) - 2022 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Montrachet - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru (2/4/2026)
Double decant at 4pm. Opened at 7.30pm and could have used another couple of hours. It had lost the reduction but was still tight and tense. Over time in the glass it became quite charming and beautiful. The texture was outstanding with very appropriate power. - 2008 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru (2/4/2026)
Double decant at 3pm, poured at 8pm. Crunchy red fruits with bright acid. Nose is stunning and finish is long and lingers. Mid-palate is a bit short at first, but continued to open in the glass with depth and layers. Wonderful wine and probably will be best in a few more years at least. - 2022 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (2/4/2026)
Decant 6 hours. Absolutely singing with beautiful bright red fruits and luscious, sexy mouthfeel. Stunning and beautiful wine. Clearly young, but not at all underwhelming.
