TN: CarolShelton Coquille Blanc '22....(short/boring)

Tried this white Rhone blend last night:

  1. Carol Shelton Coquille Blanc PasoRobles WW (13%; GrenacheBlanc/Roussanne/Marsanne/Viognier; www.CarolShelton.com) SantaRosa 2022: Med.gold color; lovely very fragrant honeysuckle/GB/floral light apple/pear/Viog bit complex quite perfumed nose; fairly tart/tangy very strong floral/honeyed/honeysuckle/GB some honeyed/spicy/nutmeg light chalky/mineral rather rich/lush lovely flavor; very long/lingering finish that mimics flavor; a really lovely White Rhone blend w/ lots of rich/lush character but good balance; reminds me some of TablasCreek Esprit Blanc but more towards the TCV Patelin de Tablas Blanc but somewhat more structured; quite a lovely white Rhone blend at a very attractive price; not the usual overripe/porky character of many PR white Rhone blends. $29.00 (KK)

  1. I’d not seen a white Rhone blend from Carol Shelton before, so grabbed this one to try. Every time I try a Carol Shelton wine, I scold myself for not paying more attention to her wines. Good winemaker/good wines.

Is the “(short/boring)” a comment on the wine? I very vaguely remember feeling similarly but it may have been the Viogner. It was over a year ago.

I bought one of her rosés to our Zin & BBQ event and was impressed as I don’t usually like rosés. This one was darker than most, almost Pinot dark, so maybe that’s why I enjoyed it.
