The rolling thunder of Cameron Hughes love started with Lot 110, a pinot picked up at costco for 16 bucks. That wine, a Los Carneros, got me very interested in what Cameron was doing.
This wine, the 125, for 2 bills more is a huge upgrade. The nose, color, finish and mouthfeel are all greater upon initial review than the 110. The 110 has acidity so it may be Joe Davis/Michelle Pfeiffer and the 125 the Adam Lee/Anna Nicole.
Big nose of cola currently drowns out other notes which we hope emerge in time.
CH states that nutmeg and other secondary notes are out there if you let this wine open up. We’ll see and repost later.
But, net/net, the initial reaction is a big tip o’ the cap to Cameron for letting hit the street at 18 bucks. Craig and I think this is a wine at 27-35 bucks wouldn’t let you down. At 18 it overachieves.
