TN: Brief impressions on the week passed: Update

A follow-up on the 2006 Dard & Ribo C-H.

We opened this Friday night on a pop-and-pour, but didn’t finish the bottle (drank about 1/2). Came back to the remainder last night and the acidity had calmed down quite a bit and the wine was much more balanced. Worked well with some pretty strong-flavored artisanal cow cheeses. I’m thinking a decent decant with at least an hour of air before drinking would benefit the wine.

You do realize Roberto that “Grasshopper” is undergoing a whole new slang evolution? One associated with auto erotic asphyxiation? Kwai Chang? Kwai chang? Unlock that door!

I believe we should start some sort of petition to change the spelling permanently to spoofilated. It makes more sense.

I have notes from the recent Dressner tasting and I liked them but do not miss the Desvignes '06 Javernieres. Fantastic wine.

Thanks for the notes, Steve. I am glad to hear the Merus was better this time and appreciate your early look at the Kobalt - I only have 2 so I am not planning to open one for a while.

Revisited the 2006 Dard & Ribo C-H last night. What a difference a year makes! The acidity has been integrated into the structure of the wine quite nicely. All the joys of the wine (the rustic earthiness) are intact, but the awkwardness is gone. A more rounded complexity is now there. Very satisfying.
