2007 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere 1er Cru
Straw gold and green with a moderate plus nose of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, light tropical fruits, wet stone and oak aromatics. Moderate plus in body, moderate plus acidity, long length, high complexity this flows powerfully over the palate but still maintains cut and grace. Painfully young, this could have used some air before drinking, but nonetheless it was beautiful.
1999 Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru
Pale ruby throughout with a moderate nose of taut red fruits, mulled red berries, damp forest floor, steeped black tea and mushroom. This was a better bottle then the last '99 I had a few months back showing a much more fragrant nose and palate that delivered. Moderate in body, moderate plus acidity, moderate minus fine grained tannin and moderate alcohol. This soared on the nose, continued through on the palate and left a great impression. Far superior to the '95 a few nights ago too.
2004 Arns Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
Deep purple and opaque with a high intense nose. This was full of ripe black fruits, some red fruits, chocolate, faint herbs, smoke and anise. Not overripe and prune like as some '04s can be, this was pretty enjoyable with steak with the alcohol poking out being the only fault. Haven’t had many other Arns that made me notice, but this wine in this context was enjoyable. Still my 3rd place wine of the night but one that fit the bill for the food.
