Jerry Hey introduced me to this wine and I have now enjoyed several vintages, each one very fine. This was my first intro to the 2011 and it continues in the same vein–perhaps a touch less density than the supernal 2010, but quite delicious even at this nascent stage.
Lovely ripe fruit, a bit austere at present, citrus zest and a hint of herbs and minerality, no green, good acidity and fine balance, it is a lovely drink that I can taste long after the bottle is gone. Great palate presence, it is a refreshing white Burg that really gives the salivary glands a workout.
Had the 2010 (excellent but too young) along with the 2009 (lots of reduction but if it subsides it could have a long life), 2007 (in the line of the 2010 but maybe not quite as razor sharp) , and 2002 (full bodied and drinking great - this wine in a lineup with the 05 and 07 Dauvissat les Clos caused me to step back a bit from the Chablis buying because it blew those away) a week ago and it has always been a first rate 1er cru. My first vintage was the 2000 which is still drinking well and every vintage I have had puts this wine at a near Grand Cru level. Good to hear about the 2011 which I haven’t tried yet.
Seems a little early for release pricing on it no? My source is typically early the new year. If you’re basing it on the vins rare blast, I feel they have a tendency to over price boillot. I’m sure flickinger will not be as pricey
Jerry,
I think you have pretty good taste in wine across the board
I haven’t had my major 2012 offers yet.
I usually pay about $65 to 70. Hopefully not much more than that.
Prices seem pretty stiff with the early 12s.
“Barry Rothof- Had the 2011 Henri Boillot Clos de la Mouchere next to the 2011 PYCM Les Genevrieres! … Clos de la Mouchere was good, Les Genevrieres was stunning!”
Great news on both but especially the PYCM. I love his wines.
use it as cooking wine jon? I also am a monster fan of the 2010 boillots. Also I hope i’m a monster fan of 2011 boillots seeing the number of them I bought
